Twenty postal operators were rated in this year's ranking. It is the fifth consecutive year that we are awarded a top six position since the ranking began in 2008.

PostNord's environmental work has been among the best in the industry for several years, according to IPC, the international association for the world's leading mail companies. The assessment measures the member companies' qualitative environmental work in, for example, management's commitment to tackling climate issues, the vehicle fleet, the use of renewable energy, and emission levels.

“PostNord was again one of our top performers in the EMMS program, achieving a fantastic 93 percent in carbon management proficiency, and reporting impressive year-on-year reductions in carbon emissions. With one of the biggest electric vehicle fleets in our group of posts, PostNord has demonstrated its commitment to lower carbon transport,” says Pieter Reitsma, Manager Sustainability at IPC.

The assessment is based on customers and others expectations of large logistics operators. An increasing number of PostNord customers expect the Group to have a positive environmental and climate performance.

"PostNord does robust environmental work and it is now about maintaining and developing it. But it does not just happen by itself. That’s why environmental and climate work is still high on the Group's agenda, as evidenced by our place in the ranking, says Mårten Sjölin, PostNord's environmental director.

This year's IPC ranking shows that more and more postal operators have actively worked on environmental issues, as several of them have improved their results in the assessment.

"The battle for top positions in the ranking is getting harder and that's good. It is positive that more and more companies improve their environmental work," says Mårten Sjölin.

PostNord has a long-term goal of reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 40 percent by 2020, something that’s also acknowledged by IPC.

“IPC would also like to congratulate PostNord on having its carbon emissions reduction target officially recognized by the Science Based Targets initiative, a notable achievement,” says Pieter Reitsma.
