MaltaPost registers a €1 million pre-tax profit

In the first six months of 2013 MaltaPost registered a €1 million pre-tax profit - an increase of 27.5 per cent over the same period last year. Similar to other postal operators around the world, MaltaPost experienced a decline in traditional mail volumes however on the other hand, parcel business generated through e-commerce continued to increase.

The highly local competitive market calls for the Company to expand and diversify its portfolio of services. The introduction of ‘SendOn’ which took place at the end of the last financial year proved to be successful and is expected to be followed by other enhanced services that complement the growing e-commerce market.  ‘SendOn’ is a forwarding service which allows Maltese customers to shop internationally from vendors who do not ship to Malta.

The Company will also be entering the insurance sector and is carrying out the necessary investment to expand its document management and hybrid mail services.
