2014 EUROPA Stamp Competition Launches on Europe Day

PostEurop is proud to present another series of impressive EUROPA stamps entries at the 2014 Europa Stamp competition on Europe day. This year's EUROPA theme is "National Musical Instrument".

PostEurop, the association representing European Public Postal Operators is proud to organize the best of Europa Stamp Design Competition for 2014 and announce the launch of the public online voting competition based on one vote per registered voter on 9 May 2013 – Europe Day.

The theme for this year's competition is “National Music Instruments” honouring the role musical instruments play bringing music to the lives of Europeans throughout history.  From classical music to modern day jazz, the instruments allow talented musicians and composers to express themselves, their creativity and in turn fill our hearts with music.  To sum it up the Greek philosopher Plato once said that "music is a moral law.  It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything."

So, philatelic designers delved into musical history till present day, to work on their interpretive designs and blissfully the results are here.

"Looking at the wonderful entries we have received this year, there is a strong educational story to tell in each stamp.  The diversity of national musical instruments also shows us how unique and rich each country is.  Taking it a step further some postal operators are using Innovative technologies such as Augmented Reality (AR) and QR Codes to bring the instruments to life" concluded Anita Hägblomm, Chair of the PostEurop Stamps and Philately working group from Posten Ǻland.
