The winning stamp was issued to commemorate the 455th anniversary of Poczta Polska. The idea of the artist Agnieszka Sancewicz to present grain of a cut oak trunk symbolically relates to the tradition and longevity of the company. - Oak is a royal tree; when we plant oak tree we can be sure that its sight will be enjoyed by future generations - said the author of the project.
The awards ceremony took place on July 6 in Asiago in northern Italy. Grand Prix Award - Medal of the President of the Italian Republic, who took patronage of the contest - was collected by Agnieszka Kłoda-Dębska, deputy director of the Office of Marketing and Philately of Poczta Polska and Zuzanna Schnepf-Kołacz, Vice Consul of Poland in Italy.
" I am very happy that the stamp commemorating the 455th anniversary of Poczta Polska has gained the recognition of the international jury. This is a proof that although many centuries have passed since King Zygmunt August established on October 18th, 1558 the first permanent connection between Krakow, Vienna and Venice, in all that time our company has been a trusted partner. We have been building this confidence also by designing stamps which for over 150 years have been commemorating the most important events related to our history, culture and tradition. These stamps tell and make history, inspire and educate. They bring Poland closer to the world " said Agnieszka Kłoda-Dębska on Sunday. - The title of `the most beautiful stamp in the world` is a special honour for us. I consider this award primarily as a way of honouring the whole postal community, the people who devote their time, talent and heart to those miniature works of art. - added Agnieszka Kłoda-Dębska receiving a medal.
The title of "Most Beautiful Stamp in the World" is yet another commendation for Poczta Polska in this competition. In recent years the award went to green, juniper scented stamp with bison released in 2012. In 2009 the award was given to „I Love You” stamp issued to celebrate St. Valantines day, in 2008 to the stamp commemorating the the congress of PostEurop in Krakow, in 2007 to the stamp „Earth Day in Poland” and in 1982 to the stamp „Vistula, You Are Beautiful River”.
