The first franchise of the Romanian Post, opened in Bucharest

The Romanian Post and the company Domino Plaza opened the first franchise of the national operator of postal services. Almost 80,000 residents will be able to pay their bills or send parcels from the same place where they do the shopping.

According to the contract signed between the two partners, the postal subunit was equipped by the franchise beneficiary with the required equipment for postal activity, including the adequate security systems. The estimated cost of the investments made by Domino Varied Services SRL is around RON 40,000.

Three employees will work in the subunit, having a program for the customers from Monday to Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. It will provide all the products and services included in the Romanian Post portfolio, except pension distribution.

"In the digital era, some traditional Post Office locations are not viable any more. Moving the service in markets, in a commercial area, clients will enjoy the full experience of retail. Through this partnership, the Romanian Post, as a franchisor, will optimize its portfolio of products and services, and also the operational costs/ will also operate the costs, based on their added value" said Alexandru Petrescu, Chief Executive Officer of the Romanian Post.

The Commercial Complex, which will host the postal subunit Domino Partner, is located in a high traffic area. The franchise beneficiary will report to the Romanian Post the income received, from which will be kept an amount based on fixed comissions applied on services or products . In addition to this final amount, the national postal service will charge a fee of 2%.

"This partnership with the Romanian Post is a business opportunity for us, including the sense of loyalty among customers and increasing the number of them. We strongly believe in our partner's services and products and we want to take advantage of its development/ developing potential. We take into consideration extending this partnership in some other cities, where, as well as in Bucharest, to work with the Romanian Post and to have ZERO commission rates for the customers." stated the Director of the Commercial Complex

Therefore, the prices of the products and services provided by the franchise beneficiary will be those established by the Romanian Post throughout its network, without any additional cost.

The estimated annual revenues at Domino Partner postal subunit are around 1 million lei, with an estimated profit of RON 78,000  for the Romanian Post. The annual revenues of Domino Various Services/ Servicii Diverse are estimated at over RON 150,000.

The management plan of the Romanian Post for the period of 2013 - 2016 has the reorganization of the processes as a strategic milestone, in parallel with the optimization of the portfolio of the products and services. By virtue of this strategy, the Romanian Post is planning to develop partnerships with potential beneficiaries, based on a modular business model to enable the implementation of the postal franchise system within the most part of the subunits' network.

Romanian Post has the largest distribution network nationwide, over 80% of all postal subunits operating now in Romania. Currently, over 19 million people benefit from the Romanian postal services and over 7.5 million addresses are covered by their own postal network.
