The Romanian Post won the contract for the distribution of health cards

Bucharest, September 5, 2014 – The Romanian Post and National Health Insurance House (CNAS) signed on Friday at the Government Palace, a framework agreement for the distribution of health cards nationwide. The total contract value is 37.5 million lei and has a term of four years.

The distribution process starts on September 18, 2014, and the total volume to be delivered nationwide, during the four years, is estimated at about 13.6 million cards. The Romanian Post will deliver the health card to the addressee not later than 20 calendar days, starting from the working day following that on which the mailing was entered into the postal network.

"The Romanian Post is proving to be the most important player in the liberalized postal services, a reliable partner for this strategic project. By the contract signed today with CNAS, the national postal operator marks the transition from subsistence management policy to a policy based on competitive commercial criteria by means of which to recover the lost market share over the last 20 years, " said Mr. Alexander Petrescu, Director General of the Romanian Post.

The most important strategic project CNAS will enable a transparent and efficient modality to spend money in the health insurance system. The framework agreement between the Romanian Post and CNAS was signed in the presence of Prime Minister of Romania, and Health Minister, by the CEO of the Romanian Post, Mr. Alexandru Petrescu and CNAS president, Mr.Vasile Ciurchea.

The Romanian Post is a leader among the postal services in Romania, with an annual turnover of over RON 1.2 billion. The company operates through a network of over 5,600 post offices with national cover. Annually, the Romanian Post is processing a volume of hundreds of millions of parcels and distributes the entitlements to 5 millions beneficiaries, associated with the public pension system, the state insurance, farmers and military pensions.
