Lithuania Post has Exchanged almost LTL 700m during January

According to the estimations of Lithuania Post, it has admitted almost LTL 700m for exchange into the euros during January.

January 5-9 were the most intensive in terms of money flows; each day was closed with approximately LTL 54m admitted for exchange at post offices.
“As expected, the largest flows of customers wishing to have their litas exchanged into the euros with no charges were recorded during the first weeks of January. Presently, we can see a considerable decrease in the currency exchange volumes, and the flows of customers have also diminished if compared with the first days of January,” Directress of Postal Network Division of Lithuania Post Inga Dundulienė said.

According to Ms Dundulienė, the main post offices in Kaunas, Panevėžys, Alytus, Utena as well as the post offices in Jonava, Kretinga, Garliava, and Vilkaviškis have exchanged the largest amounts of money.

At 330 post offices and part of credit unions, the currency will be exchanged free of charge until March 1. The commercial banks will exchange the currency with no charges until June 30, and the Bank of Lithuania will provide this service for unlimited period of time.
Lithuania Post wishes to remind that currency exchange operations are not performed at one‘s home or other places thus the citizens must be beware of fraudsters. On suspicion of fraud, the citizens should address the police or call the common emergency number 112.
