Poczta Polska will be the designated operator for the next 10 years

Poczta Polska will continue to provide secure universal services to all Polish residents for the next ten years in the capacity of the designated operator.

The company won the contest organized by the President of the Office of Electronic Communications (regulator of postal market). The offer submitted by Poczta Polska received 210 out of total 220 points.

The designated operator is a solution introduced by the Postal Directives of the European Parliament and the European Council allowing the state to fulfill its obligation to the citizens in terms of access to universal postal services. This solution reconciles liberalization of the postal market with the obligation to provide basic services of good quality to citizens at reasonable prices throughout the country and abroad.

-This result of the first such contest organised in Poland, is a confirmation that Poczta Polska is today the only entity which can effectively and securely provide postal services of comparable conditions throughout the country. Winning the contest is the success of all postal employees who successfully implement the new strategy of the Company and who have faith in their ability to carry out effective change.

As a result, Poczta Polska is today becoming a strong and modern company - emphasizes Jerzy Jóźkowiak, the President of Poczta Polska. - Our network of branches and reliable employees hired on contracts of employment are a guarantee of quality and solidity. We are proud that over the next decade we will be fulfilling this prestigious function - adds Jerzy Jóźkowiak.

In the light of the regulations, designated operator should have a network of post offices, which enable continuing provision of universal services, including collection and delivery of items at least five days a week. The universal services include delivery of letters up to 2 kg, parcels up to 10 kg (20 kg in cross-border traffic) and items for the blind. In addition, the designated operator need to be ready to perform tasks related to the defence, state security and public order. Not without importance is the issue of providing by the designated operator appropriate services for handicapped customers, e.g. collecting items from their places of residence as well as deliveries directly to apartments and not just to private letter boxes.
