Following the success of the inaugural Go Green Day in 2014, Jersey Post will be going green again on Friday 29 May in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support (Jersey) – to show continued support for the local charity.

Since 2008, Macmillan Jersey has been working hard to ensure that high quality and compassionate services are available to local people affected by cancer. The charity, funded entirely by contributions, offers information, support and practical advice to anyone in need – patients, their families, friends and carers.

In 2014, Jersey Post pledged to raise £20,000 for the charity and managed to exceed that target through a combination of fundraising initiatives that included the sponsorship of the 2014 Macmillan Cycle Challenge, a skydiving challenge, 203 staff donating an hour’s wages, the sale of football cards, teams competing in the Macmillan Rowathon as well as the Jersey Post Go Green Day.

Andy Jehan, Director of Postal Operations, said: “Macmillan Jersey was a strong favourite among our staff who wanted to continue to support the charity in 2015. Having had colleagues who have used the service, and knowing how many people are touched by cancer, we’re all doing as much as we can again this year to reach to raise funds for this excellent local cause. The Go Green Day was such a success last year, staff were keen to repeat it and we have various activities taking place all day that our employees have organised.”

The day will include a company-wide dress down day with all staff – including our postal workers and postal vehicles – wearing something, or even everything green, a raffle, various cake sales at Jersey Post sites and one brave employee who will be having his long hair shaved off on the sorting office floor in order to boost the fundraising totals.
