PostNL is currently in its busiest week in terms of textbooks. Getting all parcels delivered on time in the Netherlands and Belgium is an enormous logistic operation.
While most secondary school and university students are still enjoying their hard-earned summer holiday, PostNL is working full steam on their new school year. Staff is working day and night at the sorting and distribution centres to sort all the books before the start of the school year. We expect the busiest peak to be in the week of 10 August. Within the span of one week, PostNL will be sorting and delivering 200,000 parcels with textbooks. Students in the Northern region will be the first to receive their books as their school year starts on 17 August.
Book route
When the school year is over, students return their ‘old’ books to the suppliers for reuse. Orders are placed for the upcoming school year over the students’ summer holiday. Suppliers then face a race against the clock to get all those books packed up and ready to be shipped out in time. PostNL ensures that all books are returned as quickly as possible and that all students receive their new books on time. This feat is achieved every year thanks to the maximum efforts of all those involved.
