PostNord acquires G.P. Spedition Aps

Today PostNord has agreed to acquire the shipping firm G.P. Spedition Aps.

The acquisition strengthens PostNord’s position in the Danish freight and pallet markets and the Groups position at the Nordic logistics market.
G.P. Spedition Aps. is a Danish shipping firm with customers as Ford and TOP-TOY.

The acquisition is part of the transformation of PostNord, which has undergone a strategic transition over the past few years from being a mail company with some logistics operations, to becoming a logistics company that also handles mail.

“Our purchase of G.P. Spedition’s operations means that we are now able to integrate a strong team of forwarders into our Danish organization. The know-how they bring will provide us with a stable foundation and speed up the development of our operations in the Danish pallet and freight markets and thereby strengthens our Nordic offering” says Carsten Dalbo, Head of Logistics & E-commerce, PostNord Denmark.

The acquisition of G.P. Spedition’s operations helps strengthen the total product portfolio with regard to heavy logistics for Denmark. PostNord is already a major player within freight in Sweden and Norway, and with additional strength in Denmark the Group can now offer solid cross-border freight services to customers in all the Nordic countries.

Until now, G.P. Spedition Aps was owned by Allan Søndergaard and Jørn Jacobsen. Following the purchase, Jørn Jacobsen will head up PostNord’s Road Freight organization in Denmark.

“With PostNord, the activities that have been built up in G.P. Spedition will be given a new, strong framework in which to grow. PostNord’s goal is to consolidate its position in the Danish freight market, and we now aim to ensure that goal is achieved. I’m looking forward to getting started, together with the strong team of employees that will be coming on board with me” says G.P. Spedition director Jørn Jacobsen.
