Demand for Self-service Parcel Terminals is Increasingly Growing at Lietuvos Pastas

Business and citizens are increasingly choosing to send or collect postal items through self-service parcel terminals.

This year, items have been sent via self-service parcel terminals LP EXPRESS by 36.5 percent more, in comparison to the first quarter of 2015.

“The usage of self-service parcel terminals LP EXPRESS increases because people's habits are changing. Residents more often shop online. Collecting goods purchased online through self-service parcel terminals is a fast and convenient way. A modern-day client appreciates an opportunity to collect an item at a chosen place and convenient time. After all, the saved time – instead of going to post offices or waiting for couriers to arrive – can be spent for leisure, which is immensely important to a person of today”, Juozas Buitkus – the Head of Lithuania Post subsidiary Baltic Post, which operates LP EXPRESS activities, said.

The major part of items sent via self-service parcel terminals LP EXPRESS is purchases bought online. “Even goods purchased from foreign online shops, which are usually sent by post, are already available to be collected via self-service parcel terminals LP EXPRESS. Recently, the redirection of consignments sent by post to self-service terminals has become quite frequent”, Mr. Buitkus mentioned.

During the first three months of the year the use of self-service terminals by private clients almost doubled. The service of storing things in self-service parcel terminals LP EXPRESS increased mostly – even by 2.5 times. It is a new, but rapidly becoming popular service, which is particularly useful for residents of big cities who are always in a hurry. When you have no time to meet, but there is an urgent need to hand over an important thing, the intermediary unit can become a self-service parcel terminal LP EXPRESS,” the Head of “Baltic Post” Mr. Buitkus said.

Consignments sent by business clients via self-service terminals LP EXPRESS increased by 30 percent as compared to the same period in 2015. Usually, business clients choose to send consignments to a terminal through couriers, whereas, residents prefer the from terminal to terminal sending method.
At present, there are 80 self-service parcel terminals LP EXPRESS operating in 41 towns of Lithuania. LP EXPRESS runs the largest self-service parcel terminals network in the country.
