PostNL introduces innovative parcel and letter machine in Almere

Today, PostNL started a test of its new parcel and letter machines.

The innovative letterbox machine can also be used to send and receive parcels. This allows the company to adapt to the consumers’ changing needs, as they send and receive more and more parcels. PostNL will use the test to study whether the machine actually meets the consumer’s needs. In total, 16 of the machines designed by PostNL will be installed throughout the city of Almere in the near future.

By late November, a total of 16 of the machines will be installed in Almere. The machines contain a letterbox with two openings, and parcel lockers in various sizes for parcels that need to be collected or returned. The parcel and letter machine can be used 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. The consumer receives a unique code via SMS or e-mail to open the parcel and letter machine to retrieve or return a parcel. PostNL offers an increasingly wide selection of delivery options, whether per location (at home or at a Post Office/Parcel Point) or per time (evenings and weekends).

On 14 October, the first parcel and letter machine will be officially unveiled by Lammert Wierstra, advisor economic affairs at the municipality of Almere, and Barry Husman, Retail director on behalf of PostNL.
