Latvijas Pasts customers donated 9,000 euros in post offices to support treatment of seriously ill children in 6 mths

9,000 euro has been donated by Latvijas Pasts customers in post offices throughout the country in the first six months of 2017 within the campaign For the Little Hearts run by the charity organisation Ziedot.lv.

The funds have been channelled to the treatment and rehabilitation of 27 seriously ill children. From the 1st of June the collection of donations in the post offices continues for a different campaign: Fulfil a Child’s Dream!, which is aimed at supporting children and adolescents with impaired mobility. More than 65,000 euro has been donated by Latvijas Pasts customers within the charity campaign in total.

Donation boxes have been placed in all 480 post offices of Latvijas Pasts. The funds donated by the company’s customers from January to July this year have been used to ensure rehabilitation and medical treatment of 27 children aged from seven to eighteen years. The treatment received significantly improves the health of the little patients, promotes their development and improves their quality of life.

Mārcis Vilcāns, Chairman of the Board of Latvijas Pasts, expresses his profound gratitude to the company’s customers who fill up the donations boxes from year to year, helping children from a wide range of locations in Latvia. “Our post offices can be found all around the country, including very small populated areas. And everywhere our customers find ways to donate, supporting those who need it most. Thanks so much to them!” M.Vilcāns emphasises.

Rūta Dimanta, Manager of Ziedot.lv, also points out: “We highly appreciate the cooperation with Latvijas Pasts and we thank the company's customers for their responsiveness! Working together, we can help children across Latvia to become healthier and happier.”

From the 1st of June 2017, the collection of donations in the post offices continues for a different charity campaign of Ziedot.lv: Fulfil a Child’s Dream!. This campaign is aimed at supporting children and adolescents with impaired mobility, providing regular and innovative rehabilitation services that enable them to become more independent and integrate into peer groups. Children and young people with impaired mobility require long-time and regular rehabilitation, but their families do not have enough funds for it. In turn, state funding for this purpose is not sufficient, as only one rehabilitation cycle once every 1.5 years is ensured. Seventeen children and young people with reduced mobility who are urgently in need of rehabilitation have already turned to Ziedot.lv. A total of 79,367 euro is required to provide rehabilitation for all children and young people.

The customers of post offices have donated over 65,000 euro since the end of 2013 when the cooperation of Latvijas Pasts and Ziedot.lv for the collection of donations was launched.
