The town of Moravská Nová Ves in the Břeclav region has become the 1,000th Partner post office in the Czech Republic.
The opening ceremony was attended by the town’s mayor Zuzana Jandáková, the Minister of the Interior Vít Rakušan, and the CEO of Czech Post Miroslav Štěpán.
“Our town hall underwent a major renovation after the tornado. Today, it houses officials, we provide Czech POINT services, and we have a beautiful ceremonial hall. The Partner Post Office at the office is another natural piece of the mosaic that reflects life in our town. And another step in cooperation with Czech Post,” says the mayor of the village, Zuzana Jandáková.
“The Partner post office is a milestone in the entire project, which was created in 2009 and has been searching for its face for a long time. Today, we can responsibly declare that the project makes sense, it has found its place both with local governments, which are natural partners of our company, and with traders. Moravská Nová Ves is exactly the local government where the interest of the town’s leadership and citizens in development is visible. I am glad that the Partner post office can contribute to the standard of Moravská Nová Ves,” says the CEO of the Czech Post, Miroslav Štěpán, adding: “The target is to operate 1,500 Partner post offices throughout the country. If the municipalities are interested in continuing with the transfer of branches, we will not oppose it.”
“I was happy to return to Moravská Nová Ves. After the devastating tornado, it is incredible how the town was able to cope with the situation. The Partner Post Office, which has serial number 1000, is in the right hands and I believe that this change will mean maintaining a high standard of postal services for citizens. I would like to thank everyone who participated and is participating not only in the establishment of the local Partner Post Office, but also in the entire project,” says Minister of the Interior Vít Rakušan.
Czech Post responded immediately after the devastating tornado and mobile post office began operating in the area on June 28, 2021. Thanks to it, residents did not lose their postal services and did not have to travel for them. The branch in Moravská Nová Ves was closed the longest, with mobile post office operating there the entire time, until January 2022, when the original post office was reopened.
The Partner Post Office project was launched in 2009, when the first branch was opened in the village of Boží Dar. In February 2024, the 900th Partner post office was opened in the Central Bohemian village of Hvožďany. The Partner post office in Moravská Nová Ves is number 1000.
Since the beginning of this year, the Czech Post has adjusted the remuneration structure for operators. The fixed part of the remuneration has been strengthened and the total amount has been increased. With a weekly 15-hour opening time at Partner Post, an operator can earn an average of 22 thousand crowns per month.
Of the 1,000 Partner post offices, 600 are operated by municipalities, 200 by sole proprietors, 128 by legal entities and 72 by consumer cooperatives in the COOP union.
