While a significant presence and market leader status offer numerous advantages, they also bring a set of challenges. The COVID-19 pandemic, market liberalization, global supply chains disruptions, and regional conflicts have all posed additional difficulties, leading to financial loss of 72.2 million lei (~3.7 million euros) between 2020–2022.
In response to these challenges, it became necessary to realign objectives to market demands, leading to positive outcomes for the enterprise. Consequently, based on clearly established goals, the management undertook a comprehensive process of optimizing and restructuring the postal network at the territorial level, which allowed for a reduction in operational costs. Additionally, adjusting tariffs to reflect actual costs served as a solid basis for revenue growth.
Another key strategic action involved strengthening the processing potential for closed transit mail. As a result, in 2023, 23% of the total volume of processed international mail constituted closed transit mail, and this share increased to 28% in the first nine months of 2024. All these steps have significantly improved economic and financial performance of the organization in both 2023 and the current year.
Moreover, according to recent results published by the enterprise’s founder, the Public Property Agency, the S.E. Posta Moldovei has been classified as one of the most performing state enterprises in the Republic of Moldova in 2023. Through its remarkable evolution—from experiencing annual losses for three years to achieving a net profit of 23.9 million lei (~1.2 million euros) in 2023, and a profit before taxation of 41.6 million lei (~2.1 million euros) in the first half of 2024—reaffirms the enterprise’s ability to harness the immense potential it possesses.
